William F. Martin began his federal career with the United States Postal Service [USPS] as a Letter Carrier. He held a number of positions with increasing responsibility, including as Resource Planning and Administration Officer with the USPS Headquarters in Washington, DC, and Manager, Operating Services Branch, Management Academy, Potomac, Maryland. In 2001, he received the GEICO National Public Service Award-Federal Retiree.
A life member of NARFE, he is a member of Louisa Chapter 2065, having served as Membership Chair, 1st Vice President and President. Within the Virginia Federation of NARFE, he has served as Area VIII Vice President, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and President. He has also served on the Ballot & Teller Committee and the Bylaws Committee at NARFE National Conventions. At the 2010 NARFE National Convention in Grand Rapids, MI, he was elected Regional Vice President for Region X.
A graduate of Fullerton College, Bill Martin served in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard Units in Texas, California and Virginia.
Apart from his NARFE activities, he volunteers in his local community where he has served as Planning Commissioner for Jackson District, Louisa County; Treasurer of Lake Anna Advisory Committee and Louisa County Crime Solvers, and Director of the Lake Anna Civic Association. He previously served as Chair of the Louisa County Electoral Board; President, Secretary and Director of Lake Anna Rescue; and Director of the Jefferson Area Board of Aging.
Bill Martin’s hometown is Fort Worth, Texas. He currently lives in Mineral, Virginia. He is a widower and has five children, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
